CVA Optima V2 50 Cal 28in features
CVA’s Optima V2 is a 50 caliber break-action in-line that sits between the Wolf and the Accura. You get a quick-release breech plug and a PalmSaver ramrod.
A solid aluminum PalmSaver ramrod is included. A CrushZone recoil pad softens heavy charges. It’s drilled and tapped for scope mounts. It fires with a 209 primer and has a 1:28 twist.
Stainless and nitride finishes shrug off moisture, so this muzzleloader is a good choice for wet hunts and humid climates.
What the 50 Caliber is good for
The 50 caliber is the most common modern muzzleloader bore. You’ll find the widest choice of sabots, conicals and pellet charges for it. Most hunters load 100 to 150 grains of powder (or two to three pellets) behind a 250 to 300 grain bullet. Check your state’s limits on charge size and bullet type.
For background on how in-line muzzleloaders work, the muzzleloader article on Wikipedia is a fair start. Your state wildlife agency sets the season rules.
