CVA Scout 35 Whelen Blued features
The Scout is a plain single-shot rifle built for hunting. It’s light, it points fast, and a break action makes loading and checking the chamber easy.
The stock is 100 percent ambidextrous, so left-handed shooters get the same fit. A CrushZone recoil pad takes the sting out of heavier rounds. The DuraSight scope rail makes mounting an optic simple. A reversible cocking spur lets you thumb the hammer from either side, even with a scope mounted.
Bluing is the classic gun finish. Wipe it down with a lightly oiled rag after a wet hunt and it’ll stay in good shape.
What the 35 Whelen is good for
The 35 Whelen is a 30-06 case opened up to take .358 inch bullets. It pushes 200 to 250 grain bullets at useful speeds without the cost or recoil of a big magnum. Elk and moose hunters like it in timber, where shots are close and a wide, heavy bullet matters more than flat trajectory.
SAAMI publishes the official chamber and cartridge drawings on its cartridge and chamber drawings page. There’s also a readable 35 Whelen history on Wikipedia.
