What you get with the CVA Optima V2 50 Cal DuraSight
The Optima V2 is CVA’s mid-range break-action muzzleloader. It has a stainless or nitride barrel and a quick-release breech plug.
This version comes with the DuraSight DEAD-ON scope mount already in place, so you only need rings and a scope. It’s drilled and tapped for scope mounts. It fires with a 209 primer and has a 1:28 twist. The quick-release breech plug comes out by hand, no tools needed. A solid aluminum PalmSaver ramrod is included.
This muzzleloader has a corrosion-resistant barrel finish, which helps on wet days and long hunts.
50 Caliber in the CVA Optima V2 50 Cal DuraSight
The 50 caliber is the most common modern muzzleloader bore. You’ll find the widest choice of sabots, conicals and pellet charges for it. Most hunters load 100 to 150 grains of powder (or two to three pellets) behind a 250 to 300 grain bullet. Check your state’s limits on charge size and bullet type.
For background on how in-line muzzleloaders work, the muzzleloader article on Wikipedia is a fair start. Your state wildlife agency sets the season rules.
