What you get with the CVA Cascade 300 Win Mag Veil Alpine
The Cascade is CVA’s answer to hunters who want a bolt rifle that fits more than one person. It has a threaded 4140 steel barrel, a 70 degree bolt throw and a stock you can shorten.
A two-position safety sits where your thumb lands. It feeds from a flush-fit detachable magazine. The fiberglass-reinforced synthetic stock has a SoftTouch finish that grips well in rain and cold. A removable spacer adjusts length of pull, so the same rifle can fit a teenager now and an adult later.
The Cerakote finish holds up to rain, sweat and rough handling much better than plain bluing.
300 Winchester Magnum in the CVA Cascade 300 Win Mag Veil Alpine
Winchester introduced the 300 Win Mag in 1963. It’s a belted magnum that sends 180 to 200 grain bullets fast and flat. It’s a favorite for elk and moose at long distance. Expect real recoil, so a muzzle brake on the threaded barrel is worth thinking about.
If you want the technical side, the SAAMI cartridge drawings cover chamber dimensions. Wikipedia has a good summary of the 300 Winchester Magnum too.
