CVA Scout V2 Takedown 45-70 features
CVA’s Scout V2 Takedown pairs a fluted 416 stainless steel barrel with a tool-free takedown system. It’s a full-size hunting rifle you can store in a small space.
A reversible hammer spur suits both left and right-handed shooters. The barrel is fluted 416 stainless steel. The 100 percent ambidextrous stock has a CrushZone recoil pad. The DuraSight DEAD-ON one-piece scope mount holds zero when you take the rifle down and put it back together.
Stainless and nitride finishes shrug off moisture, so this rifle is a good choice for wet hunts and humid climates.
The scope on the CVA Scout V2 Takedown 45-70
The CVA Scout V2 Takedown 45-70 comes with a KonusPro 3-9x40mm scope. Three to nine power is a sensible range for most hunting: low for close shots in timber, higher for field edges and cut lines. Plan on a box of ammo or a few sessions at the range to zero it and confirm your holds.
Why 45-70 Government?
The 45-70 Government dates back to the US Army in 1873, and it’s still around because it works. Heavy, slow bullets in the 300 to 405 grain range put down big animals. Modern factory loads are plentiful. Keep shots under about 200 yards and it handles anything in North America that you’re likely to hunt.
If you want the technical side, the SAAMI cartridge drawings cover chamber dimensions. Wikipedia has a good summary of the 45-70 Government too.
