What you get with the CVA Cascade 6.5 PRC FDE
CVA built the Cascade as a light, affordable bolt gun for hunters. The 4140 steel barrel comes threaded, and the action has a 70 degree bolt throw for plenty of scope clearance.
It takes two-piece scope bases made for the Savage 110, so mounts are easy to find. The bolt lifts 70 degrees, so it cycles fast and clears a big scope. A two-position safety sits where your thumb lands. It feeds from a flush-fit detachable magazine.
Cerakote is a ceramic coating that resists rust and scratches better than bluing. On this rifle it means less worry in rain, snow and salt air.
6.5 PRC in the CVA Cascade 6.5 PRC FDE
The 6.5 PRC is Hornady’s 2018 short magnum. It runs the same long 6.5 bullets as the Creedmoor about 200 feet per second faster. That extra speed flattens trajectory and carries more energy for elk at distance. Recoil is still mild for a magnum.
If you want the technical side, the SAAMI cartridge drawings cover chamber dimensions. Wikipedia has a good summary of the 6.5 PRC too.
